Electric Guitars
I certainly do not consider myself an electric guitar maker, but I've made a few over the years. Living in a very remote part of Hawaii, I just can't keep with the changes in guitar electronics, hardware, etc., so I am not able to produce contemporary instruments. You can buy some great electrics right off the shelf! Still, I've had some fun making these.
This first guitar was a carved top solid koa instrument. You'd better work out with weights to play one like this. It weighed a ton, but the customer could not be talked out of solid koa.
This next intstument was a six string lap steel. I'd like to have more time to experiment with these.
Then there was this one! Years ago I had a shop in El Paso, Texas. There was a really talented young high schooler who hung out at my shop a bit. He was into dance and wanted a guitar that reflected that. He brought me an old neck and the design for this instrument which I made for him.
Here is a neck through the body bass that I made for another customer.Again all that koa made for a fairly heavy body.
