Artist Model Concert Sold 11/1/03
While most of my instruments are made to order, I make some individual Artist models . On these I often try out new design ideas. This is one such instrument.
This is a double hole curly koa concert size ukulele. It has a nice light colored curly Hawaiian koa body, bound in curly koa. There is an abalone overlay on the bridge and heel cap, as well as an abalone and pearl turtle inlay in the fretboard. The bridge and fretboard are ebony. The logo is engraved mother-of-pearl. Tuner buttons are gold plated Grovers with beautiful grained ivoroid buttons. The nut and saddle are black micarta. The handcarved dophins on either side of the heel are a recent departure for me. I have always enjoyed the carvings seen on old banjo heels. Now I am incorporating some low relief carvings into my own work. This instrument comes complete with a deluxe plush lined hardshell case.
