Tenor 5-String Ukulele
Sold 8/2/07
This is a tenor 5 string ukulele that I recently completed. The 3rd (C) string is doubled in an octave pair. I prefer this arrangement of strings to any of the other 5 string combinations. It gives the ukulele a slightly fuller sound, without interfering with melodies played on the 1st and 2nd strings.
This instrument is made from curly Hawaiian koa wood with a Spanish cedar neck that has an ebony reinforcement strip. The fretboard and bridge are both ebony. There are some small fish inlays on the fretboard at the same frets that markers are usually found. There is also a larger turtle inlay at the 3rd fret. All inlays are handcut from solid shell. The Pegasus logo is mother-of-pearl and the fretboard inlays are a combination of mother-of-pearl and abalone shell. The front and back of the body, as well as the neck, have purpleheart binding. There is abalone purfling on the top and an abalone rosette with accompanying abalone bridge inlay. Black micarta nut and saddle. Grover black chrome tuners with custom pearloid buttons. The buttons help to lighten the weight of the neck. Hilo strings. Best quality Canadian made hard shell case.
