Tenor 5-String Ukulele

This is a tenor 5-string ukulele from my Artist Instrument Series. It was sold in January 03. The back and sides of this ukulele are made from Palo escrito wood which is found in Mexico and points South. It is very striking in appearance and makes a great instrument wood. The top is made of redwood, while the fingerboard and bridge are ebony. For this ukulele I made a rope style binding from koa and maple for the top and back. The turtle inlay in the fretboard is abalone and mother-of-pearl. Abalone and pearl are also used in the logo, the bridge inlay, and the heel cap. I do not use lasers or laminated shell. I cut my inlays by hand from pieces of solid shell. The finish is a pore free high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer in the traditional style of instrument making.
