Tenor Ukulele Page 4

This is a new one-of-a-kind Artist Series tenor ukulele that I  completed and sold in June of 2005. It was built to be displayed at the Associated String Instruments Artisans show in Maryland.

This ukulele is made from some of my nicest curly Hawaiian koa that I have been saving for a special project. The body is all curly koa. Neck construction is Honduras mahogany, for stability, with an ebony fretboard. The fret markers are paua shell with mother-of-pearl markers on the side of the neck. Both the nut and saddle are black micarta, my personal favorites for these pieces. The abalone inlayed bridge is also ebony. The head inlay is black mother-of-pearl, abalone, silver, and various types of reconstituted stone. There is also an abalone rosette, abalone healcap,  and a small relief carving on both sides of the neck heel. Because I was unable to include my Pegasus logo on the headstock, the logo is inlayed in mother-of-pearl on a piece of curly koa and applied to the neck block on the inside of the instrument. It is visible through the soundhole.I wanted this instrument to reflect the heritage of the ukulele, so I constructed a handmade rope style binding from mango and koa wood. The ukulele is fitted with gold plated Grover tuners and real ebony buttons. It comes complete with a best available quality custom hardshell case made in Canada.
