My 6 string lap steel guitars are made in a variety of woods and can be ordered in string scale lengths from 21" to 23". The steel shown above is a 23" model with a vintage Seymour Duncan Antiquity lap steel pickup. I use Grover tuners and I like electric guitar bridges that allow the string height to be adjusted easily. This guitar has a curly koa face laminated onto a 1 piece Spanish cedar body. I make them with mango or koa faces and use Spanish cedar for the body to reduce weight. I can use a variety of single coil or humbucking pickups, as desired by the player. For finishes I use a multiple coat, open pore, semi-gloss lacquer. Finishes for lap steels need to be more durable than for acoustic instruments, so I use a harder lacquer. Prices vary from about $1400.00 up, depending on options, and include a hardshell case. For more info, contact [email protected]
