New Tradional Shape Curly Koa Tenor Ukulele 10/10/21 SOLD
Here is a new ukulele in my Traditional body shape. Actually started this in 2020, but like a lot of things during COVID, it took longer than usual to finish.I build tenors in both a Traditional and a slightly different Classic body shape. I do all my own work. I do use power tools but do not use any computer controlled machinery. I build HANDMADE instruments.
This ukulele has a curly Koa top, back, and sides. The neck is Hawaii grown curly Spanish cedar with a carbon fiber truss rod. The fretboard is also curly Koa and has Hawaii grown Pheasant wood binding. Binding on the top, back, and sides is curly Koa with a black/red/black purfling. The bridge is curly koa with a Paua shell top inlay. Tuners are precision German Schaller machines with custom Koa buttons and the metal work is black anodized. The rosette was handcut from recon stone. Recone stone is a manmade material that utilizes ground stone and other materials to produce a matrix of unusual patterns. No 2 pieces are the same. Nut and saddle are black micarta. Micarta is a material very similar to bone, but is more consistent in structure. The ukulele also has a side soundport. The soundport allows the player to more easily hear their own instrument in an ensemble setting.
The sound and tone are typical of koa. Bright with good volume. Easy to play action. The finish is gloss nitrocellulse lacquer and his ukulele comes with a deluxe archtop hardshell case. All shell the inlay is real shell.
